The Square and Compass at Normanton-on-Trent, owned by Ken and Fran Munro, is the oldest country pub in Nottinghamshire. As a freehouse, the pub stocks a changing range of guest ales as well as ales from its own Maypole Brewery. Its warm and friendly atmosphere offers an extensive menu in both the bar and restaurant.
The 500-year-old pub was refurbished in June, 2001, and now includes an attractive annex comprising three double-bedrooms of the highest standard. Less than ten miles from the centre of Newark the pub is set in a beautiful rural setting and has a well-equipped children's play area and beer garden.
